Rockville, Md. – In order to better represent the Latino community in the United States and Montgomery County, the Hispanic Democratic Club has changed its name and adopted a new purpose and vision to focus on community-building leading up to the 2016 and 2018 elections. The changes were adopted during its November General Membership meeting and were approved by over two-thirds of the membership.

The former Hispanic Democratic Club of Montgomery County (HDC) is now the Latino Democratic Club of Montgomery County (LDC/MC). In addition, membership is now open to all who declare commitment to the Democratic Party and bringing the purpose of this organization to life, regardless of citizenship status.

The LDC/MC will be a community-centered and mission-driven club, promoting and advancing the civic and political engagement of the Democratic Latino community in Montgomery County. The purpose of the Club will be accomplished by recruiting and organizing Latino/a Democrats and allies, encouraging and preparing Latino/a Democrats to run for office, and exercising and growing the political power of Latinos within the Democratic Party.
