Silver Spring, Md. – Following the resignation of Congressman-elect Jamie Raskin and an endorsement process, Latino Democratic Club President Mayra Bayonet released the following statement announcing the endorsement of David Moon for the vacant Senate seat:

“The Executive Board of the Latino Democratic Club is proud to endorse the candidacy of David Moon, a steadfast advocate for the Latino community in Montgomery County. The Board considered the candidacies of all four announced candidates and was heartened by the breadth and depth of their experiences and understanding of policy issues important to the Latino community in Montgomery County. The Board was particularly impressed by the legislative records of Delegates David Moon and Will Smith. The Board is confident that each candidate will continue to work diligently with, and on behalf of, the Latino community.

“In reviewing David Moon’s illustrious accomplishments, including management of the campaign of the first-ever Latina elected to the Montgomery County Council and Congressman-elect Raskin’s first bid for elective office, both of whom are progressive champions, the Board was impressed by his wide range of experience serving the community, not only as a member of the Maryland General Assembly but as a longtime community activist as well. We remain confident that David Moon will continue his steadfast advocacy for the constituents of District 20 in the state Senate.”
